L'homme-papillon ou homme-phalène est une créature ailée qui est apparut à Point Pleasant en Virginie en 1966 à plusieurs personnes. Elle viendrait nous informer de terribles catastrophes menaçant notre planète.

Un livre de John A. Kell et un film de Mark Pellington ( avec Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Will Patton...) traite des évènements de Point Pleasant : La Prophétie des Ombres ( The Motheman Prophecies ).
